Bookkeeper, Kingston upon Thames KT2 7PS

Role Description
We are seeking a full-time Bookkeeper to join our on-site team in Kingston Upon Thames. Key responsibilities include processing transactions, reconciling bank statements, preparing trial balances, and supporting monthly financial close processes. The Bookkeeper will work closely with accountants to ensure accurate books, handle client queries, and assist with VAT returns and basic reporting for small to medium clients.

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain accurate financial records using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or Xero
• Reconcile bank statements and ensure all financial data is up-to-date
• Prepare financial reports and summaries for management review
• Support audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations
• Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and company policies
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth financial operations

Experience

• Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., Sage, Xero) and advanced Excel
• Knowledge of VAT, payroll basics, and UK accounting standards
• 2+ years' bookkeeping experience in a professional services environment
• Meticulous attention to detail and strong numerical skills
• AAT Level 2 or 3 qualification (or equivalent) required
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
• Good communication skills for collaborating with clients and team members
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices
• Experience managing accounts payable and receivable processes
• Excellent organisational skills with high attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
