IMPORTANT – PLEASE READ BEFORE APPLYING
This role is 100% office-based in West Horsley, located on a farm.
You must be able to drive. There is no public transport to the site and no nearby housing within walking distance.
If you’re thinking about commuting by taxi from a nearby town, you’re likely looking at £20–£30 per day, which isn’t realistic long-term.
If getting to the office every day is going to be a challenge, this role won’t be the right fit.
We are building a highly collaborative, in-person team. We don’t believe in remote working or people sitting in silos. This is a social, fast-paced environment where communication and teamwork are a big part of the job.
There may be some flexibility for remote working in the future, but this would only come after you are fully embedded in the business, understand the systems, and have built strong relationships with the team and clients. Your first few years will be entirely office-based.
If you’re looking for hybrid or remote work now, or planning to hit “Easy Apply” without reading this properly, please don’t apply.
About Our Client
We are representing a fast-paced, highly dedicated small business that prides itself on delivering exceptional, personalised service.
Clients don’t choose them because they’re the cheapest. They choose them because of the relationship.
In a world full of online, low-cost accounting services, this business stands out by being human, responsive, and genuinely invested in their clients’ success.
This Isn’t a Typical Accounting Role
Accounting is changing quickly.
AI and automation are already replacing much of the traditional work. Data entry and basic processing are becoming less valuable.
What matters now is how you work with people.
This role is built around communication, trust, and relationships.
If you’re looking for a role where you can sit quietly behind a spreadsheet all day, this won’t suit you.
The Role
You’ll take ownership of a portfolio of clients and become a genuine extension of their business.
You’ll be the person they rely on. The one they call when they’re unsure. The one who understands what’s really going on in their business.
It’s hands-on, fast-paced, and at times high-pressure. Deadlines matter. Accuracy matters. But how you show up for clients matters just as much.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the main point of contact for your clients, building strong and trusted relationships
- Take ownership of the full client journey, from onboarding through to ongoing support
- Work closely with clients as a partner, not just a service provider
- Manage multiple deadlines and priorities without compromising accuracy
- Collaborate closely with your team on a daily basis – sharing ideas, solving problems, and supporting each other
- Contribute to a culture of open communication and continuous improvement
What We’re Looking For
Strong communicator (essential)You’re confident, approachable, and good with people. You’re comfortable having conversations and building relationships, not just completing tasks.
Team playerYou enjoy working closely with others and being part of a collaborative environment.
Resilient and organisedYou can handle pressure, manage competing priorities, and still deliver high-quality work.
Experience and qualifications (essential)
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in an accounting role
- Experience must be within UK accounting (this is non-negotiable)
- AAT Level 3 or Level 4 (part-qualified)
Technical skills
- Solid bookkeeping experience
- Payroll experience is an advantage
- Confident using accounting software
Working style You are fully comfortable working 5 days a week in the office and being part of a highly interactive team environment.
Why Join
- Develop a future-proof skillset focused on advisory and client relationships
- Be part of a close-knit, collaborative team where your contribution matters
- Gain real exposure to clients and their businesses
- Work in an environment that values people, communication, and growth
If you’ve read this and thought, this is exactly the kind of environment I want to be part of, then we’d love to hear from you.
If not, that’s completely fine, this role won’t be for everyone.
