Senior Civil Engineer Folkestone ? Kent £40,000 - £50,000 The successful candidate, based in Folkestone, Kent will assume responsibility for the general civil engineering and quality control duties on civil engineering projects ongoing on major infrastructure facilities situated locally. Projects range in value from £5K to £3M and in variety, including but not limited to; earthworks, carpark construction, road and lane widening, in?situ concrete structures and substructures, installation of new and diversion / upgrading of existing services / utilities ducts, pipelines and chambers, drainage, security fencing. Reports to Civils Director Liaises With Contracts Manager, Commercial Manager, Site Staff, Supervisors and Site Office Staff Employment Type & Benefits * Initial 4?month contract with the possibility of becoming Permanent, Full Time. * 21 Annual + 9 Bank holidays per annum. * Guaranteed salary scale of 2.5% per annum. * Additional performance related salary scale of 0?2.5% per annum. * Annual performance bonus of between 1% and 4%. * Laptop, mobile phone and access to pool vehicle provided for business travel. * Statutory Pension Enrolment Key Roles and Responsibilities Responsible for the review and distribution of CAD drawings to site staff. Assisting the preparation of physical drawings for site including the maintenance and monitoring of revision history. Setting out of sites & ongoing maintenance of levels, positions etc. using EDM (Topcon) & Magnet Field. Liaising with design engineers, sub?contractor site supervisor(s). Attending site meetings as and when required. Site surveys and handling of the survey data as required to prepare As Built Drawings Liaising with sub?contractors resolving day?to?day engineering issues, ensuring information is communicated, recorded and understood. Monitoring of same. Liaising with 3rd parties, such as client representatives, design engineer(s) and local authorities. Collation, management and maintenance of data, records & information in relation to quality control during site works. Support the preparation of Health & Safety File, O&M Manuals and As Built Drawings in CAD and PDF using Autodesk AutoCAD. All of the above with due consideration to Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality (SHEQ) requirements and standards. Additional & Shared Roles and Responsibilities * Liaising with suppliers and sub?contractors * Sourcing and maintenance of supplier list, pricing from suppliers and subcontractors. * Contribution to planning and programming of projects. Essential Skills & Qualifications * Third Level Education: BA (Hons) in Civil Engineering * A Level or equivalent in Mathematics (B or higher), 1 x Science (C or higher) and any other A?Level (C or higher) * GCSE Level in Mathematics (B or higher), 1 x Science (C or higher), English (B or higher) and any other * Proficient in the use of Autodesk Auto CAD, Topcon EDM Equipment and Magnet * Field. * Full Clean (3 points or less) UK/EU Driving Licence with exclusive access to own vehicle. * Current passport with at least six months to expiry * Experienced in MS Excel, MS Outlook and the MS Windows file system. * Good Health ? Network Rail (ML1) will be conducted. * Have a good understanding and experience of contemporary professional email communications. * Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in both oral and written (email) forms. * Strong negotiating skills. Desirable Skills, Qualifications and Characteristics * CSCS UK H&S Test for Managers & Professionals * CSCS Site Card (Not CSR) * Half Day / 3 Year Manual Handling Certification * High level of attendance and punctuality in school and higher education. * Attention to detail * Knowledge and/or experience of MS Project
