Shift Pattern: 3‑shift rotation (Mon–Fri) + occasional voluntary weekends

• 06:00–14:00
• 14:00–22:00
• 22:00–06:00

About the Role

SRG are supporting a successful and rapidly expanding manufacturing organisation near Leeds, West Yorkshire, in recruiting a proactive Mechanical Maintenance Engineer. Reporting to the Engineering Leader, you will be responsible for maintaining mechanical equipment, ensuring high levels of plant reliability, and supporting continuous production operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out routine mechanical inspections and deliver effective planned preventive maintenance (PPM).
• Respond swiftly to breakdowns, diagnosing faults and implementing repairs to minimise downtime.
• Work safely at all times, adhering to permit‑to‑work systems, compliance standards, and site safety procedures.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance tasks, faults and corrective actions to ensure smooth and detailed shift handovers.
• Work collaboratively with Operations teams and external contractors to resolve engineering issues efficiently.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and help maintain a high‑performing, reliable production environment.

Criteria

Essential:

• Mechanical engineering qualification (apprenticeship, NVQ, HNC or equivalent).
• Experience working with mechanical systems such as:
• Pumps
• Gearboxes
• Pneumatics
• Steam systems
• Filling machinery

Desirable:

• Background in manufacturing, FMCG, food, chemical or process environments.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
