Detailed job description and main responsibilities
  • Competent after training, in the use of industrial mechanical and manual catering and cleaning equipment and in the processes and able to train members of the team
  • To have a good knowledge and understanding of the requirements of the service prior to and following training
  • Maintaining the necessary skills and undertaking the relevant training to fulfil your role and your personal development.
  • Planning and carrying out staff appraisals
  • Responsible for; recording/reporting staff sickness and absences
  • Planning and approving Annual Leave.
  • Working flexibly within the Catering Team
  • Ensuring that cleaning is carried out to the required frequencies and standards, in line with the Food safety and UHL policies and processes.
  • Ensuring that waste is correctly segregated as required and that waste is stored/removed as Trust Waste Policy.
  • Ensure that any mechanical defects, faulty or broken equipment identified is recorded and reported and taken out of use and labelled do not use.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Able to carry out instructions and duties as detailed in the job description. Previous experience with working within a catering environment. Willingness to work towards and achieving CIEH Level 3 in Food safety.


Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience of working within a healthcare environment. Catering experience CIEH Level 3 in Food Hygiene Supervisory experience


Physical Skills

Essential criteria
  • Working to deadlines safely in a care environment. Good level of fitness


Flexibility

Essential criteria
  • Flexibility to cover colleagues when required and or be able to work unsociable hours. Flexible approach to working practices


Trust induction and Training

Essential criteria
  • Must be able to attend Trust induction and any relevant training that is required for this position.

Disclosure and Barring Service Check

Please note if you are successful in obtaining this position and the post involves regulated activity you will be required to undertake a Disclosure&Barring Service check.

The Trust will pay for the check initially and the money will then be deducted from your salary over a three month period commencing on your first month's payment.

The current price of a check is£38 for an enhanced and£18 for a standard check.
