Production Leader - machine shop, Merseyside

We exclusively represent a growing manufacturing organisation who specialise in the design and manufacture of a niche and highly innovative mechanical product range for a worldwide client base They seek to recruit a Production Leader to lead, coach and develop a production team within a CNC machine shop environment. The Production Leader will ensure that KPIs around safety, cost, quality and on time delivery are consistently met or even exceeded, whilst performing all associated first line management duties ? leading a team of skilled in CNC setting and operating. The Production Leader will also drive departmental continuous improvement projects and work closely with engineering on new product introduction. We seek the following: * An experienced first line manager, with previous experience as a production team leader in a precision engineering, CNC machine shop environment * Good knowledge of precision machining processes, specifically milling ? is highly advantageous * Experience working to a set of common manufacturing industry KPIs ? safety, quality, cost, delivery in a people focused environment * Experience in leading a team of people and managing relevant HR matters ? attendance, holidays, appraisals, disciplinary, training and continued professional development * Sound knowledge of continuous improvement techniques is preferred ? 6S, process flow, SMED, OEE, in particular * A background in engineering, hands on CNC machining and apprenticeship trained would be ideal * A safety first mentality (IOSH certification preferred) and a true commercial awareness * An inclusive and inspiring people manager, who will coach best practice and look to improve on processes wherever possible Most importantly, the successful candidate will be highly inquisitive, focused on manufacturing efficiency, demonstrate good logic and pragmatism, exemplary customer focus, strong attention to detail, and an enthusiastic and proactive approach to all tasks This is a rare chance to join a stable and expanding business who invest heavily into product innovation and have a wide range of new products in the offing, in a role which will afford great opportunity to make a real difference to production performance and therefore customer satisfaction.
