Working on behalf of a Local Authority, Aatom Recruitment has an excellent opportunity for a Parking Design Engineer on a 2 months contract with a possibility of an extension. Main purpose of post To identify and deliver improvements to the provision of parking services for the people of Lambeth, its visitors and its businesses. Develop those that are approved into schemes that meet the Council's wider policy objectives, particularly those set out in the Borough Plan, the Local Plan, the Borough Transport Strategy and the Lambeth Air Quality Action Plan. The post-holder is responsible for ensuring that each scheme optimises both the long-term benefits for customers and the financial benefits for the Council. The postholder remains responsible for each scheme until handover to the Parking
Service to a quality that enables the end state to be operated on a business-as-usual basis. Responsibilities Effectively schedule, co-ordinate and prioritise assigned work Take responsibility, relevant to the post, for ensuring that Council statutes and government legislation is upheld. This includes, amongst others; Management Compliance Charter, Environmental Policy, Data Protection Act, Race Equality Action Plan, Quality Assurance Plan, Health & Safety, Sustainable Construction and Recycling. Take responsibility, appropriate to the post for tackling racism and promoting good race, ethnic and community relations. Work flexibly in undertaking the duties and responsibilities of this job, and participate as required in multi-disciplinary cross-department and cross-organisational groups and task teams Be available to attend stakeholder meetings which may be out of normal working hours. Provide expert technical advice on all matters relating to the provision of on-street or off-street parking infrastructure. Develop feasibility plans, options appraisals and business cases for potential controlled parking zones and other parking projects. Secure the services of external consultants and contractors as necessary, operating effective contract management in consultation with the Highway Contracts Manager Develop, design, implement and hand-over to the Parking Operations Service controlled parking zones and other parking projects. Ensure that those affected by proposals are able to contribute at all stages of development by promoting and enabling the active participation of internal and external stakeholders, the local community, business and specialist groups as appropriate Ensure that all works are developed in cognisance of the Council's wider policy objectives, particularly those set out in the Borough Plan, the Local Plan, the Borough Transport Strategy and the Lambeth Air Quality Action Plan. Ensure that all works are undertaken in accordance with codes of practice and all relevant legislation. For schemes that the Programme Manager has directed are to be subject to formal project governance, assist the Project Manager in the preparation of (a) monthly scheme progress reports (b) monthly cost plans, (c) quarterly performance indicators and (d) risk registers Commission relevant authorities' street managers to process any temporary or permanent legal orders that may be required to enable proposed schemes to be implemented. Be responsible for maintaining the specification and standard drawings for the assets listed above. Provide the Asset Manager with as-built drawings of completed schemes at a quality to enable the highway asset database to be accurately updated.Skills/Qualifications Sound knowledge of all technical factors that influence the design of controlled parking zones (eg current and forthcoming legislation, design standards and specifications) Three years' experience of producing technical (ideally parking) designs on CAD Experience of undertaking stakeholder management in respect of a proposed scheme in the public realm Experience of logging survey data on a map-based IT system Ability to produce a good standard of parking designs using specialist software and CAD Ability to manipulate data in MS Excel Ability to use current internet technologies, such as SharePoint Ability to attend site at frequent intervals throughout feasibility, design, and construction process.To get more information about this role and how to apply please contact Anisha 0(phone number removed)
