Speciality Doctor – HIV & Sexual Health, London TW7

This permanent full time specialty doctor post is based across three sites of Sexual Health Hounslow at Twickenham House at West Middlesex University Hospital, Heart of Hounslow and Feltham Centre for Health.

We are aiming to attract a doctor who has extensive working knowledge of the NHS with a minimum of 2-year experience in Sexual Health and provision of contraception and HIV Medicine. There is no on call component associated with this post.

The Sexual Health and HIV services managed by Chelsea and Westminster NHS Foundation Trust (CWFT) comprise one of the busiest centres in Europe. Specialist Genitourinary Medicine (GUM) services include the Complex PrEP Clinics, Male and Female Chronic Problem Clinics, Genital Dermatology Clinics, High Resolution Anoscopy services, and services for individuals with learning difficulties/disabilities, commercial sex workers, and the trans population. In addition we run daily contraception clinics, including provision of long-acting reversible contraception (LARC) as well as Complex LARC. The Directorate also has a thriving research unit and is involved in major national and international GUM and HIV clinical research trials.

Provide, develop and monitor clinical sessions to best meet the needs of the patients.

Accept responsibility for the maintenance and development of his / her own clinical skills / knowledge.

Treat all patients in a sensitive non-judgmental manner.

Maintain confidentiality in accordance with national and local policies.

Participate in clinical audit, supporting the clinical lead consultant in ensuring that the practice of medical colleagues reflects current research findings, and is in line with Trust procedures and is appropriate for each individual client for whom care is provided.

Ensure that service standards and protocols are kept up-to-date, working with team colleagues to facilitate inâhouse training / updating programmes as required.

Work flexibly across a variety of clinical settings.

Participate in the provision of expert clinical advice and professional leadership as part of the Sexual Health and HIV Service Team.

Uphold the values and vision of the Sexual Health and HIV Service.

Attend service meetings as required and participate in the strategic development of the service.

Work with Clinic manager and consultants to develop the skills of all members of the sexual health and HIV team in order to optimise the efficient use of the team and its members for the benefit of patients.

• Maintain clinical practice to a high standard by attending continuing education programmes as appropriate.

• Participate in the service appraisal and clinical supervision programme.
• Actively disseminate professional and clinical knowledge to colleagues.
• Participate in the Sexual Health Service education programme.
• To provide leadership in the team and to develop closer links with GP consortia, social services, and other relevant bodies.
