Senior Accountant, Capital & Technical, Luton

Connect2Luton are excited to recruit a Senior Accountant, Capital and Technical on behalf of Luton Borough Council within their Finance department, for a period of 6 months and paying up to £450 day rate. As Senior Accountant, Capital and Technical, providing the Council with a comprehensive technical and capital accounting service in accordance with corporate financial policy and practice and all pertinent legislation and financial regulations. About the Role Prepare sections of the Statement of Accounts in accordance with statutory and best practice requirements. Prepare the accounting elements of the Council's capital programme working in conjunction with the Capital and Asset Management, Cost Centre Managers and Accountants to enable the Council to determine its capital expenditure priorities. Monitor capital expenditure and making recommendations for optimising the Council's financial position Develop and maintain the financial asset register, ensuring that it is compliant Plan and direct the closure of the Council's accounts in conjunction with the Chief Accountant Ensure that central statistical returns required by central government and the Audit Commission to assess Luton financially Provide technical and capital accounting advice to the Luton accountancy community and to be the Council's technical accounting liaison officer with the External Auditors ?About you Numerate, analytical Able to communicate effectively to non-financial people Competent advance user of excel and other Microsoft packages About Us Luton Borough Council have partnered with Kent County Council to create Connect2Luton, a recruitment managed service for all contingent temporary agency, contract and interim roles at the Council.
