Import Manager - Customs Clearance, Luton

An Import Manager position has arisen for an established, very successful independent family run business based in Bedfordshire who service a range of sectors within the food produce and distribution industry. As the Import Manager for this company who specialise in temperature-controlled distribution to a large customer base throughout the UK, you will have an Imports Administrator reporting into you, and you will be reporting into the Procurement Director who is based abroad. You will be responsible for but not limited to; -          Assisting the Procurement Director with shipping negotiations and price analysis -          Maintaining AEOF status -          Reconciliation and daily running of Duty Deferment Account and knowledge FAS payment system -          Preparation of shipping documents for customs clearance, submission of entries and release/Pins from shipping lines -          Maintain cost check database for all suppliers, invoice checking and resolution -          Maintaining Banana Weighing Authorisation -          Managing the daily running of the shipping contracts including origin and destination terms and conditions, plus direct shipping to Ireland, release, and invoice checking -          Organic certification for imports, Fairtrade and Rain Forest Alliance It is crucial that you are an experienced, credible and efficient Imports Manager, with experience and working knowledge of all the above listed duties, as well as; -          HMRC Qualification -          Very competent user and knowledge of CHIEF, CNS, Datafreight, DEFRA ? PEACH, TRACE NT -          Advanced user of Microsoft Excel -          Working knowledge of processes including audits and mass balance It is important that the successful Import Manager is extremely driven, full of enthusiasm, with a proactive approach with lots of initiative, someone who that will go out of their way to get to get stuck in and have a positive impact on this Family run business. Strong communication and influencing skills are a must, as well as a good sense of humour as you will be joining a small, friendly outgoing team.  It would be an advantage if you have Spanish speaking language skills, with a Fresh Produce background with Tropics and Southern & Central America Imports experience.
