Construction Solicitor, Chelmsford

Senior Construction Solicitor required to join our busy and well-respected client in their Chelmsford Office to be part of their multidisciplinary team. As Senior Construction Solicitor you will be part of their busy and highly regarded team, the team consists of an experienced Partner and the other members of the multidisciplinary team. As Senior Construction Solicitor you will be advising clients on construction documentation including contracts, sub-contracts, collateral warranties, professional appointments and bonds The team is multidisciplinary involved dispute resolution, commercial property, employment, development, environmental and energy expertise. The Role: Handling a caseload covering both non contentious and contentious construction work. The role will involve marketing and business development and therefore the ideal candidate must be flexible enough to work outside normal office hours when required Clients include local authorities and educational establishments. Act for developers, main contractors and specialist subcontractors. The turnover of companies to be acted for mainly range between £5 million and £25 million. A lot of work is on commercial buildings and blocks of apartments. The company has a good range of core clients who give us repeat work and many clients who we are sure could be developed further. The firm also has expertise in environmental and energy work which could be developed. You will need to use your own initiative and provide good commercial advice to clients. The Person You will have experience of all of the major standard forms of contract as well as bespoke construction documentation Proven experience in handling a caseload covering both non contentious and contentious construction work. Experience of all of the major standard forms of contract as well as bespoke construction documentation. Possess the ability to deliver succinct high-quality advice Experience of representing clients in adjudication and the Technology and Construction Court. Excellent client and team communication skills, drafting and negotiation skills and a desire to play a leading role in the future development of the team. You will be computer literate, able to use a case management system and be able to type. Preferably have their own vehicle as well as a clean driving licence. Benefits to you Salary £40,000 -£70,000 dependant on experience 25 days holidays Extensive training will be provided.
