Transport Operator - Nights, Coalville

Our client is a National Distributor with a number of sites across the country. We now have an exciting opportunity for a Transport Operator to join the Night shift. If you've got experience working as a Driver and prefer to be in the office then this could be the next step for you. Responsibilities To assist with issues arising within the transport operation during duty hours and escalate these issues when appropriate. * Ensure that the Company vehicle allocated is maintained in a roadworthy and clean condition, documenting appropriate checks and reporting any faults immediately. * Check off and sort all Cross-docks and distribute to drivers runs or trunk vehicles. * Communicate via email any relevant information to internal and external stakeholders. * Supervise and Load assembled orders onto vehicle ensuring that the payload is within the limits for the vehicle and that the permissible axle weights are not exceeded and that goods are safely loaded for transportation and delivery. * Ensure duties are carried out within legal requirements complying fully with the requirements of the Company Operators Licence. * Ensure all scheduled deliveries are completed on time, in full on a daily basis, utilising the relevant route planning tools. * When required, deliver to customers as directed and assist with unloading and taking to final delivery point as requested. Report any problems with delivery sites. * Ensure that all POD paperwork is correct and authorised, and the E-Pod system is updated. * To assist the transport department with routing and scheduling of work in the absence of a supervisor. * Any other reasonable request in line with operational requirements. * To be available for additional training and development that is envisaged will support the post holder in his/her career development and current role. * When required, deliver to customers as directed and assist with unloading and taking to final delivery point as requested Experience Required ? Previous experience in a similar role, preferably within a fast-paced distribution operation The ability to work under pressure, react quickly to customer requirements and take a creative approach to problem solving ? Strong IT skills - especially with Microsoft Office packages ? Ideally will have a Class 2 Licence
