MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES Personnel and Resources Participate in arrangements for training of tutors. Curriculum, Quality, Teaching, Learning and Support In liaison Curriculum Directors and teaching staff, monitor, take ownership and be responsible for the academic progress, progression and discipline of an identified group of College students, using data and any other relevant information relating to attendance, retention, achievement, added value, post- or in-College progression intentions and medical and special educational needs. This will include following all applicable College policies and procedures including those in relation to student admissions, progression, conduct and discipline. Ensure targeted support is in place for students who are significantly underperforming against their potential and intervene with individual students as appropriate, following any relevant College policies. Lead on one or more of the following aspects of pastoral work; supporting targeted students, Level 2 students, ex-students and UCAS, promotion of Fundamental British Values and education on Prevent, the Tutor Programme, Looked After and Service Children, Transition Liaison, Coaching, Parent Communication and E-Safety. This list is subject to change dependent on the changing needs of the student body. Work with staff in: setting high expectations of their students and regularly monitoring their individual students? behaviour, attendance, retention, performance, progression planning and general academic progress; delivery of the tutorial programme, the purposeful use of tutor time and the timely undertaking of tutor 1-1 meetings; completing UCAS and other references to the high standard and timeframes expected at Barton Peveril. Liaise with parents and other stakeholders, both within and external to College, in relation to students? progress, holding case conferences and meetings as appropriate. Advise and guide students and, where appropriate their parents, with problems too complex or serious to be dealt with by teachers and/or tutors, or with situations where teachers? and/or a tutor?s actions have been ineffective, following any relevant College policies. Ensure that advice is provided for students who wish to discuss changes to their programme of study, in accordance with College guidelines. Offer post results advice and guidance to students following the publication of results in August. Participate in arrangements for the enrolment and induction of new students to the College. Be a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead for the College, including attending appropriate training, keeping up to date with developments, handling and case managing Child Protection and safeguarding concerns and liaising with parents and external agencies as appropriate. Ensure prompt referral to specialist careers, counselling, health and welfare advice services, within or external to College, as required. Work with the Assistant Principal Student Progress and Wellbeing to ensure that all College targets relating to student support and progress are met. Liaison and Marketing Keep abreast of current developments in 14-19 education and progression issues. Attend school liaison events. Meet, as required, with parents of prospective students. Contribute to Open Evenings. Make a significant contribution to the interviewing and enrolment of current or prospective students. General Undertake any other tasks in negotiation with the Assistant Principal Student Progress and Wellbeing, which are reasonable within the purview of the post.
