Software Engineer (Open Source), Manchester

Software Engineer (Python/Linux/DevOps) * Manchester (WFH/Flexible Working) * £50,000 to £65,000 per year (DOE) Skills and Experience: * Excellent open source programming skills (Python), with experience in modern Python frameworks and libraries (Flask, SQLAlchemy, Jinja2, Celery, Swagger) * A background and experience in developing with C/C++ and more recently exposure to DevOps (Docker/Kubernetes /Ansible, etc.) * Strong, commercial development experience under Linux (VCS, SCM, Git, etc.) writing backend code and RESTful APIs * SQL Databases: PostgreSQL is preferred * Scripting technologies: Bash, Perl, etc. * Familiarity with software development methodology, preferably agile The Opportunity: In the role of an Open Source focused Software Engineer, you will join a growing software team responsible for the development of their exciting range of video analytics products. You will be working on the development and of their cutting edge, server and cloud-based solutions. For this, you will work closely with the algorithm, integration and testing/support teams to develop new features for these products, as well as provide bug-fixes for existing features. They are growing quickly as a business and it is expected that as you grow into the role you will become exposed to all parts of the software development life-cycle from the initial user requirements capture to the design, implementation and validation of new products.
