Overview

We are seeking an individual with purpose, passion and integrity to strengthen and champion good welfare and safeguarding standards and practice for clubs, youth and community groups and other organisations delivering all forms of movement, physical activity and sport.

Hours: 22.2 hours per week (3 days) – part‑time, flexible with occasional evening or weekend work. Salary: £35,412 – £40,777 per annum pro‑rata (entry‑level unless exceptional circumstances). Contract: Fixed term to March 2027.

Greater Manchester Moving is a charity committed to changing lives in Greater Manchester by inspiring a healthier future through movement, sport and physical activity. This role is part of the national network of Sport Welfare Officers and will support a whole‑system approach to community networks, activities and opportunities to move more and tackle inequality.

Responsibilities
  • Champion and promote good welfare and safeguarding standards across clubs, youth and community groups.
  • Build and maintain relationships with diverse partners, communities and system partners to support the development of inclusive sport and physical activity.
  • Lead and coordinate welfare and safeguarding reviews, training, and reporting within a national network.
  • Advise and support partner organisations on best practices, policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to the development of Greater Manchester Moving’s long‑term strategy and vision.
  • Represent the charity at meetings, events and collaborative initiatives.
Qualifications
  • Relevant knowledge, skills and experience to support welfare and safeguarding in sport and physical activity settings.
  • Strong facilitation, communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience in partnership development and a whole‑system approach to community wellbeing.
  • Ability to work independently, manage a caseload and deliver on key outcomes within a fixed‑term contract.
