Job summary
The Child Weight Management Project Lead role is to provide leadership and operational support to the Child Weight Management Specialist Service and Single Point of Access. The postholder will be accountable for driving programme delivery and achieving agreed outcomes and will contribute to service growth. Where required, the role will also include a delivery element to provide cover for team absence.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will play a key role in leading the planning, development, implementation and coordination of the service, working closely with the SPOA Coordinator to support the day-to-day running of the Single Point of Access and Specialist Child Weight Management programme. Responsibilities include acting as a central point of contact for delivery staff, coordinating staffing and session cover, overseeing staff performance through 1:1s and PDPs, and driving service improvement through KPI monitoring, data analysis, and performance reporting. The role will involve liaising with stakeholders and system partners, managing patient flow and outcomes, ensuring data quality through regular audits, and contributing to clinical governance and service development. In addition, the post holder will support financial processes, venue coordination, staff training, and project reporting. Alongside managerial duties, the role includes hands-on delivery of safe, personalised, and age-appropriate interventions to children, young people, and families, including exercise sessions, behaviour change support, and physical activity advice. The post holder will also be responsible for session planning, client engagement and follow-up, monitoring progress against targets, supporting curriculum development, attending community events to promote the service, and providing delivery cover where required to ensure a high-quality, consistent service.

The Project Lead will support the service development and day-to-day operational management. This is a leadership post, with real scope to influence operational performance and service quality.
With support from the Head of Service, the postholder will take a proactive role in line managing staff. The multidisciplinary team includes a GP, Head of Service, therapists, a nutritionist, counselling specialists, and administrators. You will provide management support, contribute to MDT meetings, supervise and support service delivery, lead clinics, and support group education and intervention sessions. The role also includes developing resources and supporting staff training.
Your key responsibilities will be:
Managerial

Undertake data preparation and analysis as requested by management and attend key monthly meeting for internal and external performance board

Track and manage patient flow and outcomes through the system, as requested by the Operations Team Lead to put actions in place for those who are not progressing as they should
To coordinate the booking, risk assessing and use of various delivery venues
Support with financial duties including the processing of staff expenses and invoices relating to the project
Lead on the updating of data where data completeness is an issue

Contribute to clinical governance procedures
Constantly monitor and report on progress of the project, to present reports defining progress, problems and solutions

Deliver safe personalised, age appropriate, one-to-one group exercise interventions, behaviour change and physical activity advice to children, young people, and families.
Prepare and set up venues in a safe manner
Have a thorough understanding of the curriculum/teaching resources and be confident in the delivery of such.
Session planning including preparing the correct handouts, materials and equipment for the session
Discussing weight loss / gain with clients
Monitor weekly weight loss / gain and attendance against set targets.
Client contact calls to ensure attendance, chase non-attendance
Service / client evaluation
Oversee curriculum development
To support a team of staff to deliver a quality driven service spanning a range of interventions within the specialist services and partner working within the IWS.
To engage and recruit potential clients at promotional and community events.
Cover delivery where necessary.
