OverviewOur Crown Court Clerks are essential to ensure Crown Court hearings run smoothly. They confidently speak in court, communicate with the Judge and all participants, and produce accurate and timely court documents. This position includes line management responsibility.
Responsibilities- Prepare and manage accurate court documents and orders.
- Support and lead the clerking team to maximise judicial sitting time.
- Intervene in court when required and record hearing outcomes.
- Maintain team wellbeing and achieve objectives through clear direction and regular meetings.
- Adapt to new systems and technologies as part of digital solutions.
- Ability to motivate and support a team to deliver excellent customer service.
- Confident public speaking and courtroom experience.
- Excellent communication, organisational and prioritisation skills.
- Ability to complete documents accurately and to deadlines.
- IT proficiency and capacity to learn new technologies.
This post will be based at Teeside Crown Court, Russel St, Middlesbrough, TS1 2AE.
Occasional travel across the cluster area will be required for cover when needed.
Working ArrangementsHybrid working arrangements are available where business need allows. Employees are expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in an office.
Skilled Worker VisaThis role is not eligible for new Skilled Worker visas under current immigration rules. Applicants must have held a Skilled Worker visa prior to changes on 22 July 2025 to be eligible.
