Housekeepers are responsible for providing and maintaining cleaning and catering services within the Trust’s Hotel Services team for office, patient and communal areas, ensuring a clean, safe and supportive environment for staff and patients.

You will be passionate and enthusiastic about patient care, putting patients at the heart of everything you do. You will work within a multi‑professional team, think on your feet, be empathetic, and help create a culture of continuous improvement.

You must have the Right to Work in the UK in order to be successfully appointed to this role. Please note, this role does not meet the required eligibility criteria for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker visa and therefore the Trust is unable to offer sponsorship for this particular role.

Main duties of the job

We require a friendly, positive, organised and motivated individual to work as a Housekeeper within the Trust’s Hotel Services Team.

1 x 10 hours.

The post holder will be based at Roseberry Park Hospital and will be required to work shifts between the hours of 7am‑6pm including weekends and bank holidays.

You should be highly motivated, reliable, flexible and willing to work at short notice as there may be opportunities for extra hours.

Experience in cleaning duties and use of chemicals and equipment are essential. Catering and food service experience would be beneficial along with a passion for providing high standards of customer service.

Experience of working or volunteering in a mental health and learning disabilities setting is essential. Also, the ability to provide a positive approach and image when working with relevant client groups throughout the Trust.

Candidates must possess Food Hygiene Certificate Level 2 or work towards successful completion in an agreed timescale.

Essential are Numeracy, Literacy and IT level 2 (Equivalent to GCSE grades 9 to 4). NVQ Level 2 Housekeeping is desirable. All candidates should demonstrate a commitment to undertake further training and qualifications as deemed necessary within agreed timescales.

The successful candidates will complete a 5‑day induction programme, location will be agreed prior to start date.

Person Specification Qualifications
  • Food Hygiene Certificate Level 2 (to be completed within 12 months)
  • Numeracy and Literacy to level 2
  • NVQ Level 2 in Housekeeping (within agreed timescale)
Experience
  • Experience in use of cleaning materials and equipment
  • Experience working or volunteering in a mental health or learning disabilities environment
  • Experience cleaning in a hospital environment
Knowledge
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety and COSHH
  • Knowledge of National Standard of Cleanliness (within agreed timescale)
  • Knowledge of deep‑cleaning procedures
  • Knowledge of Patient‑Lead Assessment of the Care Environment (PLACE) (within agreed timescale)
  • Good understanding of confidentiality
Skills
  • Able to follow protocols and instructions
  • Able to demonstrate thoroughness and attention to detail in all tasks
  • Safe, efficient and effective techniques in the following areas, producing consistently high standards: Cleaning; Deep cleaning; Use of motorised cleaning equipment e.g. floor scrubber, carpet cleaner; Use of kitchen equipment; Preparation and serving of food; Use and cleaning of regeneration ovens; Washing and ironing
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Time management and ability to prioritise effectively
  • Breakaway techniques (within agreed timescale)
