Marie Curie and Sunderland Royal Hospital have joined together to offer a companion services to support people at the end of life. We are looking for individuals to spend quality time with patients and those close to them at this very difficult time.

Availability

3 hours a week - Monday-Friday between 9.00 - 17.00

Location

Sunderland Royal Hospital, Kayll Road, Sunderland SR4 7TP

What you will do

• Spend time with someone different each week
• Offer emotional support and companionship
• Give family members/carers a short break
• Share helpful information and connect families to local services
• Complete a basic report after each visit
• Be an active team member of the Marie Curie Companion service
• Participate in regular group support and development sessions

What we ask of you

• Minimum age of 18
• To provide two references from non-family members and other relevant documents related to the role
• To complete an induction and mandatory and any training related to the role
• Commitment requirement of 3 hours per week for a minimum of 1 year
• Access to a personal email account
