Production Planner, Newton Abbot

CareerMakers Recruitment are currently looking for a Production Planner in Newton Abbot, TQ12.

Duties:

• Develop and maintain robust production schedules to ensure customer demand and delivery requirements are achieved
• Utilise customer forecasts to support effective production planning and material scheduling
• Liaise directly with customers, providing regular orderbook updates and communicating any changes to delivery schedules
• Monitor production progress and ensure manufacturing activities remain on schedule
• Resolve scheduling conflicts and adjust plans where required to optimise production efficiency
• Assess labour and capacity requirements, highlighting shortages or constraints where necessary
• Evaluate raw material and bill of material requirements to support production demands
• Liaise with suppliers and generate purchase orders to ensure timely material availability
• Work closely with all departments to communicate production status, risks and priorities
• Evaluate supplier and production performance, identifying opportunities for improvement within the planning process
• Generate and distribute KPI reports, analysing trends and supporting continuous improvement initiatives
• Support improvements to process flows, operational efficiency and cost control
• Assisting with the booking and coordination of couriers and logistics to support on-time customer deliveries

Skills:

• Previous experience in a production planning capacity
• Possess strong planning and analysis skills with the ability to implement processes and procedures and to track progress.
• Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.
• Excellent organisational skills, initiative, attention to detail.
• Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office packages, in particular Excel.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes and ERP/MRP system experience required.

Shift Pattern:

• Monday – Thursday 07.00 – 16.00 & Friday 07.00 – 12.00
• No Weekends

• £30,000 - £35,000
