Location: Northants Salary: Competitive(Negotiable) Job Description: Senior Hardware Design Engineer Department/Location: Northants Reports to: Engineering Manager (subject to change) Hours of work: 40 hrs / wk Summary of Position: We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated senior level hardware design engineer to join a small, but experienced, engineering team. They will be part of the dynamic team continually designing and developing world beating products. Our client in the defence and aerospace markets whose products are fully designed, manufactured and tested internally. As a result this role will be very diverse and range from the obvious design activities through to first article testing and production support. Primary Responsibilities Design and development of a variety of hardware products including analogue and digital designs. Schematic design and PCB layout, including component level footprint design. Ideally proficient with Altium PCB design tools. First article testing of designs and investigation and resolution of any hardware issues. Liaising with manufactures on any production related issues. Obsolescence management and through life support of designs. Person Specification(E= essential, D= Desireable): Qualifications & Training Bachelor?s degree in Electronics or related subject - E MSc or First Class Hons in Electronics - D Previous Work Experience A minimum of 5 years? experience in an equivalent role. Skills & Knowledge Digital circuit design including micro-processors, FPGA?s and associated high speed peripherals. Analogue circuit design such as power supplies - E Basic RF circuit design and layout experience. Basic embedded firmware skills used to exercise and test hardware designs - D Personal Qualities & Attitude Ability to fit into a close knit working community - E Confident personality. Excellent verbal and written communication - D Competencies required for the job: Good analytical skills. Professional approach to all your work. Ability to complete projects including all necessary paperwork. Attention to detail.
