Job Title: Fire Alarm Engineer – Department Lead (London & Surrounding Areas)
About Us
We are a young and ambitious Passive Fire Protection company with a growing reputation across London and the South East. Having built strong foundations in the fire safety sector, we are now looking to expand our services by creating a dedicated Fire Alarm and Security department – and we need the right person to lead it.
The Opportunity
This is not just another Fire Alarm Engineer role. We are looking for a driven and experienced professional who wants to take ownership of a new department and grow it from the ground up. You’ll have the full backing of our established team and client base, but the freedom to shape and run the Fire Alarm division your way.
For the right individual, this could evolve into something much bigger – including the potential for shareholding or business partnership. If you’ve ever wanted to build your own business, this could be your once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to do so while being paid and supported by an ambitious, successful team.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the launch and growth of our Fire Alarm & Detection department.
- Carry out installations, servicing, maintenance, and reactive repairs of conventional and addressable fire alarm systems across a range of properties (commercial, residential blocks, offices, care homes, etc.).
- Diagnose faults, carry out remedial works, system upgrades and minor works.
- Conduct regular system inspections, testing, maintenance checks, and maintenance of accurate service documentation and compliance records.
- Provide clients with advice on fire alarm system compliance, improvements and upgrades — helping shape safety strategy.
- Develop and implement processes, workflows, and best practices for department operations from first principles.
- Support business development: work to secure new contracts, scope work, and ensure client satisfaction.
- Eventually recruit, train, and manage a team of engineers/technicians as the department expands.
What We’re Looking For
- An ambitious, driven, Fire Alarm specialist looking to level up and build something with like minded professionals.
- Several years’ experience working as a Fire Alarm Engineer — installing, commissioning, servicing, maintaining and fault-finding on fire alarm systems (conventional and addressable).
- Solid technical understanding of fire alarm systems, wiring, low-voltage electrical work, and relevant regulations/industry standards (e.g. compliance with British Standards for detection & alarm systems).
- Strong practical, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills — able to handle reactive repairs and planned maintenance with professionalism and efficiency.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written — comfortable liaising with clients, contract managers, and internal teams, and producing clear documentation/reports.
- Entrepreneurial mindset, self-motivation, proactive attitude, and ambition to build and grow a new department.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across London and the South East.
- (Optional but desirable) Relevant certifications or trade qualifications; experience working within BAFE/NSI/industry-certified fire & security compliance frameworks.
What We Offer
- Competitive salary package (depending on experience and responsibilities).
- A genuine opportunity to build, shape and lead a fire alarm & detection department — with long-term growth potential.
- Possible equity or shareholding for the right individual — a pathway into senior leadership or partnership.
- Full support from a forward-thinking and established company leadership team.
If you are ready to step up, take the reins and build something from scratch — while being rewarded and supported — we want to hear from you.
Please apply with your CV and a short cover letter outlining why you are the ideal candidate to launch and lead our Fire Alarm & Detection division.
