Site Engineer Apprentice Responsibilities

You’ll begin your journey on one of our construction sites, gaining experience and training within the Site Engineering teams. You will shadow a Site Engineer, learning about setting out control, quality control, temporary works, lifting operations, safety management and project delivery.

Within the Site team, you will provide assistance in the following areas:

  • Assisting the Site Engineering team in setting out and dimensional control, equipment management and calibration, weekly and monthly instrument checks, etc.
  • Assist/ be aware in maintaining the drawing register.
  • Assist/ be aware in as‑built survey records and drawings.
  • Be aware of the importance of Temporary Works and lifting operations.
  • Carry out inspection and test check sheets (pre‑concrete slump test, concrete cube tests, etc.).
  • Carry out material delivery check inspections.
  • Prepare permits to break ground, approved by senior members of the Site Engineering team.
  • Raise and promote a positive health and safety culture.
  • Be aware of safe systems of work, RAMS and COSHH assessments.
  • Be aware of short‑term lookahead programmes.
  • Be aware of material take‑off.
  • Complete site diaries and records.

Qualifications and Requirements
  • GCSEs for English, Mathematics and Sciences at grade 4 or above.
  • A Levels in Maths and/or a related subject.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Ability to travel to the office and sites; some sites are difficult to access via public transport.
  • A driving licence would be preferred.
  • Flexibility to spend time in other offices and sites.
  • Great communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Self‑motivated, team player, and a positive attitude.
