2 Part-Time Female Personal Assistant – Driver support for a Lady with Multiple Sclerosis in Ochiltree.

Hours & Schedule

10 hours per week per worker, 7 days per week coverage. Shift pattern alternates between 3‑hour shifts: week 1 (3 days), week 2 (4 days). Rota includes alternating weekends.

Salary

Living wage rate – £13.45 per hour.

Job Purpose

To work closely and flexibly with the lady, ensuring she receives appropriate support with day‑to‑day needs, companionship, meal assistance, and participation in her hobbies. The role also involves driving her wheelchair‑adapted vehicle out for walks, drives, and social activities.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist with daily living tasks and personal care as required.
• Drive wheelchair‑adapted vehicle and help with wheelchair transport.
• Provide companionship and support during visits and outings.
• Flexible to work evenings when required.
• Support during the other staff’s annual leave.
• Support the lady’s husband and family guidance regarding activities.

Training

The family will train the assistant in safe wheelchair insertion/extraction and operating the manual car.

Employer

You will be employed by the family, who will receive assistance with payroll administration and employment support responsibilities from a relevant support organisation.

Person Specification

• Attributes – Good sense of humour, down to earth, good listener, dog friendly.
• Essential Criteria – Working knowledge of person‑centred practice, clean UK driving licence (manual), physically fit, experience of supporting people to live active lives, ability to facilitate empowerment, good interpersonal and communication skills, listening skills, organisational skills.
• Desirable – Relevant qualifications, lived experience of peer support.

Personal Qualities

Good sense of humour, down to earth, enjoys conversation, dog friendly, physically fit, can drive manual car, able to assist wheelchair transport.

Employment Terms
