An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Ward Clerk to join the Team at Glan Clwyd Hospital. This role provides an efficient and comprehensive clerical support service for the Ward, supporting high quality service to patients and staff within the Department.

The positions are 22.5 hours per week, Monday - Wednesday, 07:30 – 15:30.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be the first point of contact for patients, relatives and visitors to the Ward and must demonstrate a professional and sensitive manner while maintaining confidentiality at all times. The post holder will give efficient clerical support to the nursing staff on the Ward and will maintain professional telephone etiquette when handling enquiries regarding patient care.

Applicants must have a good standard of education, be adaptable, possess good organisational skills and be able to respond courteously to all telephone enquiries. Previous Ward Clerk experience and knowledge of the Patient Administration System (WPAS) is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.

The ability to speak Welsh is essential for this post.

Qualifications
  • Maths/English GCSE or equivalent
  • NVQ 2 in Administration, NVQ in Customer Service, ECDL
Other
  • Welsh Speaker (level 3 and above)
Experience
  • Sufficient previous clerical/office/reception/Ward duties
  • Working with the public in a busy environment
  • Previous experience working within the health care sector
  • General experience of administration functions
Skills
  • IT skills
  • WPAS case note tracking, WCP RADIS
  • Understanding the importance of maintaining medical records
Knowledge
  • Knowledge of data protection and patient confidentiality
