Role Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organised Bookkeeper with 1 -2 years of practical experience to join our team in East London. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and supporting the overall financial health of the organisation. You will ensure that accounts are not just recorded, but reconciled accurately and ready for month-end review. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day bookkeeping tasks, including recording financial transactions accurately.
  • Maintain and reconcile accounts payable and receivable records using recognised accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or Xero.
  • Process invoices, payments, and expense reports efficiently and in accordance with company policies.
  • Assist in preparing financial reports, statements, and budgets for management review.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and internal controls.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing procedures by verifying data integrity and accuracy.
  • Liaise with external auditors and tax advisors as required to facilitate audits and tax filings.
  • Keep organised records of all financial documents for audit purposes.
  • Process monthly payroll for employees, including pension submissions and P45/P60 issuance.

Experience Skills & Experience Required

  • Minimum 12–24 months in a dedicated bookkeeping or accounts assistant role.
  • Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or Xero is essential.
  • Experience with managing accounts payable and receivable processes.
  • Strong organisational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles and financial regulations relevant to the organisation’s location.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and basic financial reporting.
  • Ability to work independently whilst maintaining high standards of accuracy.
  • Prior experience working with multiple accounting platforms is advantageous but not mandatory. This role is ideal for candidates who are methodical, reliable, and eager to support the organisation’s financial operations through precise record keeping and efficient processing of financial data.
