Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust (SFT) is seeking an inspiring, visionary, and values-driven Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) to join our Executive Team on an 18-month fixed term contract or secondment to help shape the future of nursing, midwifery and AHP care across our organisation and the wider BSW Hospitals Group.

Main duties of the job

As our most senior nurse, you will provide strategic, professional leadership to all nursing, midwifery and AHP colleagues, championing the delivery of safe, high-quality, compassionate care. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring our services meet the highest standards of clinical excellence, patient experience, continuous improvement, and regulatory compliance.

This is a role for a leader who wants to make a meaningful impact locally, regionally, and across our Integrated Care System. You will work alongside a talented executive team, influence strategic decision-making at board level, and represent SFT at national forums. You are a credible and compassionate senior nurse leader who brings substantial board-level experience and an exceptional track record in professional nursing leadership.   • Registered nurse or midwife with current registration, NMC and academic qualification to Masters degree (or equivalent)
Experience

Essential

  • Professional, leadership and managerial experience of a sufficient level to make an immediate contribution in this role, this will include previous senior nursing management experience in an Acute Care Organisation.
  • Demonstrate experience in the redesign and development of services, together with practical experience in leading the necessary changes to implement.
  • An inspiring leader who leads by example and empowers others with a personal passion for improving patient care and the overall patient experience
  • Highly developed oral, written, presentation and leadership skills, with the ability to develop, communicate and gain ownership for a clear vision and direction for patient centered nursing care
  • Ability to build effective teams that deliver high standards, collaborative working and integrated solutions to complex and challenging problems
Knowledge

  • Knowledge of the application of Care Quality Commission standards
  • Knowledge of the Hygiene Code and demonstrate leadership commitment to infection prevention and control to ensure that patient safety is central to the organisation's culture, systems and working practices.
  • Good knowledge of healthcare modernisation and able to demonstrate a successful track record of leading and facilitating major change programmes
