Job Description - Teaching - Teacher of Engineering.pdf

Teacher of Science and Engineering Job description Scarborough UTC are looking to appoint a Teacher of Science and Engineering to join our academy in September 2026, on a full time, permanent basis.

Interviews for this role will take place week commencing 18 May 2026 About us Scarborough UTC is not a traditional school, we are a college-style environment for students in Year 9–13, designed to mirror the maturity, independence and professional expectations of the workplace. Each of the 44 UTCs across the country have their own specialisms; the Scarborough specialisms are Engineering, Health and Cyber. The specialisms form the core curriculum at a Utc and take centre stage ahead of other curriculum courses. Our students choose to join us because they want something different, ambitious and futureâfocused.

Our students experience:

  • Industry-led technical projects
  • Mentoring from engineers and sector specialists
  • University-led masterclasses
  • Visits to partner organisations
  • Real work experience each year

“A school of opportunity”; “Leaders and staff describe the school as a family. They feel mutually supported and value the attention leaders give them. Staff morale is extremely high.” “Behaviour is calm and respectful. In lessons, pupils are attentive and want to learn.” Ofsted 2022.

Offering the sought after specialisms of Engineering, Cyber Security, and Health, Scarborough UTC has seen transformational change since the pre-covid inspection. We are a growing college, with state-of-the-art facilities that are industry standard. Students can take advantage of our links with local employers, meaning they receive the very best in industry guidance, supporting them with their future careers aspirations, and 100% of students leave us with an onward destination of university, apprenticeship or employment. Staff are highly skilled and knowledgeable, working together in a supportive team environment with a view for success and high standards in all they do. Located in Scarborough, we also serve the wider communities of Filey, Whitby, Bridlington, Pickering, Malton and Driffield, offering an exceptional educational experience for 13-18 year olds.

A visit in person is highly recommended to get a real flavour of the superb learning environment and day to day running of this unique experience.

Why join us? Staff across the trust are talented and enthusiastic, and all contribute to the trust’s success story.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join an outstanding team within a high-performing multi academy trust with exciting career prospects for successful applicants.
