Quantity Surveyor Location: You will need to be based in or around Sheffield, some site travel may be required across the South approximately once per month Salary: £55,000 per annum Contract: Full time, Permanent We are Gov Facility Service Ltd, a non-profit company owned entirely by the Ministry of Justice, supplying facilities management services to 50 prisons over the South and East of the UK with an employee count of 1400. We are seeking a Quantity Surveyor to assume responsibility in supporting the delivery of high volume, low value capital works projects across Prison establishments across the south of England. As one of our Quantity Surveyors, you be responsible for: * Being part of a small team of Quantity Surveyors, having responsibility for the management and delivery of all tender and procurement activity to deliver all programme minor capital works, within a financial year, across a defined number of prison establishments. * Being expected to make and execute decisions regarding quantity surveying, best practice, best value and legislative compliance to help ensure projects are delivered to agreed cost, quality and programme. You must be able to demonstrate the following Qualifications and Experience: * Possess a minimum of 2 years? experience of a construction / FM business area, providing Quantity Surveying or Estimating services to high volume low value capital work programmes up to £15m per annum (Essential) * Track record of success in supporting a similar contract / business unit. (Essential) * Managing tender and procurement activity across the delivery of all projects which meet stakeholder requirements within their financial year. (Essential) * Professional adviser to stakeholders to ensure contractual compliance and delivering value for money (Desirable) * Management of NEC contracts. (Desirable) * Proactive communicator, adept at communicating to stakeholders who possess a range of skills and experience. (Essential) * Chair adjudication meetings (Essential) * Experienced in identifying risks and advising on and implementing problem resolution actions (Desirable) * Act independently to make day to day decisions to ensure all contractual, programme and compliance requirements are met. (Essential) * Manage the relationship with and expectations of, stakeholders, with minimal day to day supervision. (Essential) * Build strong relationships within GFSL and across HMPPS to influence and support continual improvement (Essential) * Act as a subject matter expert or adviser to QS, HMPPS and GFSL management resources. (Essential) * Work closely with Projects and PMO resources to maintain effective financial and programme control.
