Overview

As a Paint Prepper at RAF Coningsby, you’ll play a hands‑on role preparing Typhoon aircraft and defence equipment for repainting — helping keep aircraft safe, reliable, and ready for the mission. This is a practical role where you’ll work on real RAF assets, learn specialist skills, and be part of a team whose work directly supports national defence. Responsibilities

• Prepare aircraft and components to meet Serco quality standards
• Remove coatings using manual, chemical, and specialist media processes
• Follow strict health, safety, and environmental rules, including COSHH
• Use, handle, and store paints and materials correctly
• Work in controlled areas and help keep colleagues safe
• Speak up and take action if something isn’t safe or approved

Qualifications

• A full UK driving licence.
• SC cleared of have no issues obtaining one.
• The ability to follow defined processes and work instructions.
• A willingness to learn – no specialist skills are required, and full training is provided.
• A positive attitude towards developing your skills and career with us.

Security & Clearance

This role requires Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance, which involves verifying your identity, employment history, nationality, and criminal record to meet government security standards. Depending on the nature of the role, you may need to obtain formal Security Clearance (such as CTC or SC), which includes more detailed background checks on employment, criminal record, and financial history to ensure suitability for working in secure environments. UK residency requirements may apply for certain levels of clearance. You will also complete an Occupational Health Questionnaire so we can identify and provide any support you may need to undertake the role effectively.
