Youth Justice Service Officer, Colwyn Bay

A new opportunity has become available for an experienced Youth Justice Worker to join a team based out of Colwyn Bay in North Wales. The position would be working full time hours (37 hours, Monday-Friday) on a temporary contract which is initially due to run for 6 months. You would also be required to cover a Saturday Court rota, which is usually one in every 5 weeks.You will be handling a case load of up to 20 at any given time. You will be reporting to the Youth Justice Service Manager and will handle several different tasks and responsibilities on a daily basis, including: * Reducing the risk of youths reoffending by regularly completing risk and vulnerability assessments as well as management plans. * Providing supportive relationships to younger people, their families and carers using your specialist skills. * Liaising and collaborating with other agencies who work with young offenders. Providing information on changes in legislation, practice and procedures. * Managing caseloads including the full range of referral, community and custodial orders. * Attending youth crown courts when is needed. * Carrying out regular risk assessments and use internal and external agencies to monitor risks of reoffending. * Experience of CSE * Experience using ASSETPLUS Desirable Qualifications: * Degree in Social Work, Youth Justice Studies or a qualification in Probation Studies Key Skills Needed * Strong communication skills, both written and verbal with a wide variety of people (young people, their families, other agencies and professionals) * Strong organisational skills * Ability to work well and remain relaxed under pressure * Good level of it skills, proficient in Microsoft Office * Being able to take own initiative as well as part of a team It is essential that you hold a valid Enhanced DBS certificate.
