Salary Range: 22 – 26 (£26,023 - £29,471 per annum)

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic Charity and Housing Association. The Society of St James (SSJ) has been working in Hampshire for over 50 years, delivering high impact, person-centred, accommodation services to adults and young people experiencing homelessness, problematic substance use and mental health problems. The Impact You'll Make

As a key member of our small, hands-on IT team, you support over 400 users across 40+ sites to stay connected and productive. By providing high-quality 1st and 2nd line support, you directly enable our staff to deliver vital services across offices, residential units, and remote locations.

You won’t just be "fixing PCs"; you’ll be managing hardware, software, and network connectivity, while gaining valuable exposure to systems administration and infrastructure projects in a complex multi-site environment.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Providing 1st and 2nd Line Support: Acting as the go-to contact for IT issues across multiple sites.
  • Troubleshooting: Resolving hardware, software, network, and user-specific problems.
  • Systems Configuration: Setting up and configuring devices, accounts, and systems to ensure a smooth onboarding for staff.
  • Environment Management: Supporting Active Directory, Microsoft 365, and Google Workspace.
  • Network Assistance: Helping to maintain connectivity, including WiFi, switches, and VPNs.
  • Communication & Coordination: Managing support tickets and communicating progress clearly to users.
  • Project Support: Assisting with broader IT improvements and small infrastructure projects.

  • Is a Continuous Learner: You have a genuine appetite to develop your skills across networking, VPNs, and cloud systems.
  • Communicates with Clarity: You have the "soft skills" to translate technical jargon into helpful advice for non-technical colleagues.

Essential Qualities and Skills

  • Technical Experience: Demonstrable experience in an IT support role (1st or 2nd line), with a strong track record in troubleshooting hardware, software, and user issues.
  • Systems Knowledge: Proficiency in supporting Active Directory, Microsoft 365, and Google Workspace environments.
  • Networking Fundamentals: A solid grasp of networking basics, including IP, DNS, and DHCP.
  • Operational Skills: Ability to manage workload and work independently while maintaining a high standard of user communication.
  • Travel: A full UK driving license and a willingness to travel to different sites and residential services as required.
