Healthcare Assistant - Endoscopy, Southampton

With the ever‑increasing number of treatments, consultations and care we see ourselves offering to patients, our Endoscopy Unit based at Southampton Hospital, has an opening for a new Healthcare Assistant to join our dynamic and family‑oriented Endoscopy team. Our services include gastroscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy, cystoscopy, hysteroscopy and urodynamic procedures. We also provide phlebotomy, pre‑assessment and outpatient clinics for the above specialties.

• Provide patient‑centred care in a busy, fast‑paced environment.
• Clean and maintain the department; assist with stock management and equipment checking before and after each clinic.
• Lead outpatient clinics alongside the consultant.
• Support the team in admissions and recovery; act as a patient advocate during vulnerable times.
• Prepare clinical areas for activities to ensure smooth running of the Endoscopy Unit.
• Keep good record keeping in line with Practice Plus Group policies and procedures.
• Adhere to good practice, maintain core competencies and continue to develop skills appropriate to the Endoscopy practice.

Rota pattern spread across Monday to Friday 07:30 to 18:30 for 3 days plus one 6‑hour shift either morning or afternoon to suit the needs of the service.

• Past working experience in a hospital or clinical environment.
• NVQ Level 1 & 2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent.
• Effective communicator at all levels, both written and verbal.
• Strong IT skills, familiar with MS Office tools, and able to pick up new systems easily.
