This post offers an exciting opportunityleadthe teaching team within our Informal Teaching and Learning Group. The Informal Pathway provides a fully personalised curriculum driven by EHCP outcomes, designed to strengthen learner engagement with a particular emphasis on developing communication and independence. Learning is enriched through play, exploration and multi‑sensory experiences, with adults using responsive, reactive and engaging approaches such as Intensive Interaction.
The successful candidate will lead, manage and inspire a team of teachers delivering the Informal curriculum, ensuring consistently high standards of teaching and learning and contributing to the ongoing development of outstanding inclusive practice.
We are seeking a Middle Leader who is a strong and positive role model for both staff and pupils. You will offer supportive challenge, foster reflective practice, and work collaboratively with colleagues to continually refine and enhance teaching approaches so that all learners within the Informal Teaching and Learning Group maximise their engagement, progress and overall achievement.
Our young people (2-19) have a wide range of special educational needs, including Autistic Spectrum Condition.
We offer an inclusive setting operating on the main Broomfield site and three partnership sites:
This enables us to meet a wide variety of pupils'needs and provide support and advice to the community.
Staff can be expected to work on any of the four sites if required.

- Knowledge and understanding of working with pupils with ASC, ADHD, communication and Interaction needs and Moderate Learning Difficulties
- Experience and skills of teaching pupils with a broad range of Special Educational Needs to secure excellent outcomes
- The ability to effectively quality assure provision and provide reports and action plans to further develop identified areas
- Excellent communication, organisation and interpersonal skills and an ability to work collaboratively with all stakeholders
- High expectations of yourself and others; leading by example to develop a culture of professional learning
- Experience of effective deployment of staffing and resources
- Experience of leading professional development and supporting and challenging staff teams
- A commitment to making contributions to the full life of the school

- Support the vision, ethos and policies of the SILC to maximise achievement and progress of learners within the TLG
- Play a key part in raising standards for Teaching and Learning by acting as a role model for others and demonstrating that they are an effective professional who challenges and supports colleagues to maximise their teaching and learning performance

Ensure you lead and develop your TLG team to deliver high quality teaching and learning; quality assuring provision effectively to ensure the following are facilitated for all pupils 2-19:
Strategic Direction:
- Contributing to the creation and implementation of the School Development Plan and Whole School policies and taking responsibility for appropriately delegating aspects of it
- Analysing and interpreting relevant national, local and school data, as well as research and inspection evidence, to inform policies, practices, expectations, targets and teaching methods
- Establishing a clear, shared understanding that teaching within the TLG will contribute to students'spiritual, moral, cultural, mental and physical development, and will prepare students for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of adult life.
- With the involvement of relevant staff, establish short, medium and long-term plans for the development and resourcing of the TLG.
Teaching and Learning
- Securing effective learning to maximise achievement and progress and increasing independence for all our students
- Ensuring teaching demonstrates breadth, balance, creativity and opportunities for progression
- Supporting colleagues in using assessment to effectively plan lessons to meet the needs of all students
- Providing guidance on the choice of appropriate teaching and learning methods to meet the needs of the all students
- Quality Assure all aspects of Teaching and Learning within the TLG, including pupil progress, and use this analysis to identify effective practice and areas for improvement, and take action to improve further the quality of teaching
- Plan robust and effective transition plans for all students on entry and exit at all Key Stages and in year transfers
Leading and Managing Staff
- Developing positive working relationships with and between all students and staff in the school
- Playing a key role in developing a culture of professional learning, mutual respect and trust
- Establishing clear expectations and constructive working relationships among all staff, including through team working and mutual support; devolving responsibilities and delegating tasks, as appropriate
- Appraise staff as required by the school policy and use the process to develop the personal and professional effectiveness of the appraisee(s)
- Audit the training needs of TLG staff and develop robust action plans to address CPD needs
- Lead professional development for through example and support, and co-ordinate the provision of high-quality professional development by methods such as coaching, drawing on other sources of expertise as necessary
