An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Qualified Emergency Care Assistant, Ambulance Support Crew or Technician to join us on a job-share basis at Spalding Ambulance station. The successful candidate will work 18.75 hours on the Blue line.

About you

You must be already working as a Qualified Emergency Care Assistant, Ambulance Support Crew or Technician to apply for this position. You will serve your community responding to 999 calls as part of an emergency ambulance crew. You will deal with a range of different people and situations and use clinical guidelines to manage and direct patients to the most appropriate care pathway.

Main duties of the job

This role requires motivation, commitment and personal resilience as well as an ability to reflect and seek feedback on clinical practice.

You must have excellent communication skills, be friendly and work well within a team. It is important to be reliable and punctual in your work due to the nature of an emergency service and the need to respond promptly to incidents/calls. A commitment to continual professional development is also essential due to the evolving nature of emergency and urgent care.

You must also embrace and promote equality, diversity and inclusivity in your role and at every opportunity. You will work as an Emergency Care Assistant, Ambulance Support Crew or Technician, depending on your current grade. You will be required to make clinical decisions as a Technician and will be the lead clinician if crewed up with an Emergency Care Assistant, which will enable you to provide patients with potentially life‑saving care at the scene as well as linking patients with alternative care pathways within the community.

Job responsibilities

As a Technician, you will provide appropriate care, treatment and transportation of all categories of patients (including emergency and non-emergency cases) using the highest quality of skills and promoting the safety and well‑being of patients at all times. To provide this care in accordance with the Institute of Health and Care Development (IHCD) standards and within the scope of the Trusts protocols and procedures.

As an Emergency Care Assistant or Ambulance Support Crew, attend cases of accident and sudden illness and respond to urgent, special and planned patient transfer requests. To use advanced driving skills under blue light and normal traffic conditions to respond to emergency and routine calls as required. To assist a qualified practitioner in the delivery of high quality and effective clinical and personal care and the transportation of patients, selecting and applying appropriate equipment and skills in line with the scope of practice and associated training.

  • Must be Qualified ECA/Technician/ASC
  • Full clean driving licence including Category A - old style licence - or Categories B & C1 - new style licence. Applicants with a minor speeding offence may be considered.
