ACCOUNTS ASSISTANT - PURCHASE AND SALES LEDGER
Staines-upon-Thames | £32K - £34K plus bonus | Full-time (37.5 hrs/week)
We have a fantastic opportunity for an Accounts Assistant seeking their next challenge to join the finance team at Accent Catering. We are looking for a confident and experienced Purchase & Sales Ledger professional to take ownership of the Head Office purchase ledger and credit control functions, ensuring accuracy, efficiency and strong financial control across supplier and customer accounts.
The position will be focused on purchase ledger responsibilities, alongside managing credit control activities and supporting the wider finance team.
You will be well organised with a sharp eye for detail, confident in managing your own workload and keeping on top of deadlines without close supervision. We’re looking for someone with a positive, proactive mindset who takes a hands-on approach, and enjoys building strong, effective relationships with suppliers, customers, and colleagues across the business.

In this role, you will be:-
Purchase Ledger
- Ensuring supplier invoices are accurately logged and processed in a timely manner
- Liaising with departmental and unit managers for the correct coding and approval of invoices
- Raising any issues with the appropriate department/manager
- Reconciling supplier statements against our records and following up on reconciling items
- Performing corrections for any issues that arise
- Preparing payments within Dataflow for input on Bankline
- Reconciling company credit cards
Credit Control
- Monitoring and managing the sales ledger to ensure customer accounts are accurate and up to date
- Preparing and issuing monthly statements
- Resolving invoice queries and disputes promptly and professionally
- Contacting clients via phone, email, or letter to chase overdue payments
- Maintaining accurate records of all credit control activities
What you will bring:-
- Proven experience in a purchase ledger or accounts payable role, ideally within a high volume environment
- Proven experience within credit control
- The ability to hit the ground running and work with minimal supervision
- Strong attention to detail
- Confidence in handling reconciliations and resolving discrepancies
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to liaise with stakeholders across the business and maintain supplier and client relationships
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage workload effectively to meet deadlines
- Good working knowledge of accounting systems and Excel
- A positive attitude and flexibility to support the wider finance function where required

SALARY
Salary £32-£34K per annum plus bonus
HOURS
37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday
