Automation Engineer £35K - £45K Manchester A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Electrical Automation Engineer to join a global leader that specialise in the design, manufacture and installation of incinerators, cremators and combustion systems. Projects can range from a simple, small scale incineration unit featuring diesel fuelled package burners and relay logic control panel, to large scale fully automated systems utilising natural gas fuelled burners, a range of electro-mechanical components, hydraulics, pneumatics, and PLC based control systems. Working as part of a team the successful candidate will report to the UK Programme Director and will be responsible for designing Automation software to within agreed timescales & budgetary constraints, working closely with fellow Software Engineers & Electrical Design Engineers. The role will involve an element of travel to assist with the installation, commissioning and repair of the equipment. Key Skills and Qualifications Ensure adherence to all Health & Safety procedures. Be proactive in the raising of potential H&S issues and the development of personal safety awareness. Undertake risk assessments. Experienced with Mitsubishi and Siemens PLC controlled automation in a continuous process or production environment including: Mitsubishi GX Developer. Siemens Step 7 and TIA Portal. Communications networking (Ethernet, Profibus and Profinet) Serial Communications using Modbus and ASCII protocols. Produce software specifications and design documentation Configure and develop software for a wide variety of applications Need for high level engineering skills to cover all systems (PLC, SCADA, and a sound working knowledge of VSD's) Perform PLC control level issue diagnosis, possess a highly?developed fault finding and problem?solving skills. Capable of following, understanding and developing improvement strategies within PLC ladder code. Design, modify and code new and existing SCADA Systems - Experience of Siemens WinCC, Red Lion and Mitsubishi GT Developer would be an advantage Design, modify and code new and existing HMI displays. Test and commission safely in a working end user environment Ability to conduct engineering training on new and current plant and equipment. Following customer support, be responsible for incident follow?up, root cause analysis and documentation. Support commissioning of new automation and plant. Collaborate and communicate with engineers and production staff when completing project work to enhance production efficiency, effectiveness and operational understanding. Prepare specifications and technical detail to fully define project requirements. Experience in the installation and commissioning of projects. Developing and implementing the required technology to increase reliability and efficiency of machinery; identify obsolescence and future risks for process and product change. Development of Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) documentation & procedures. Development of Site Acceptance Test (SAT) documentation & procedures. Advantageous to have a working knowledge of: ?
