About the Team & Role:
As part of our commitment to develop the Public Health workforce, Gloucestershire County Council (GCC) is looking to recruit a Public Health Practitioner Degree Apprentice who is self-motivated, organised, and passionate about developing a career in public health.
This is a 3-year full time degree apprenticeship training programme. On successful completion of the apprenticeship, the apprentice will achieve a BSc(Hons) Public Health degree (Level 6) and be eligible to apply to join the UK Public Health Register (UKPHR) as a Public Health Practitioner. Please refer to the BSc in Public Health (Hons).
Therefore, applicants will need to be in a position to apply to UWE by 30th June 2026 and commence the course on 1st September 2026.
Applicants need to ensure they meet the entry requirements below before applying:
- 96 UCAS tariff points.
- GCSE: Grade C/4 or above in English and Mathematics or equivalent (we accept Functional Skills Level 2 in Maths and English).

Applicants with a previous undergraduate or postgraduate degree will be considered on an individual basis by UWE via the course application process, but please note applications from individuals who already have an undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Public Health cannot be considered.

The Public Health and Communities Hub support the Councils Agile Working Policy and expect team members to work an average of two days per working week in the office, which is based in central Gloucester, and to attend in person meetings as and when required. New starters will be required to come into the office more often in their first 3 weeks for induction.
