Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated IT Support professional to provide technical assistance and support to our organisation. The successful candidate will be responsible for resolving hardware and software issues, maintaining network infrastructure, and ensuring optimal performance of IT systems. This role offers an excellent opportunity to utilise your expertise in computer networking, operating systems, and technical support within a dynamic environment.
Duties
- Provide first-line technical support to end-users via help desk tickets, phone, or email, ensuring prompt resolution of issues related to hardware, software, and network connectivity.
- Troubleshoot and resolve desktop support issues across various operating systems including Windows, macOS, and Linux.
- Manage and maintain Active Directory accounts, permissions, and group policies.
- Support server infrastructure including Microsoft Windows Server environments and utilise tools such as SCCM for software deployment and updates.
- Configure and troubleshoot network components such as LAN, VPNs, DNS, TCP/IP protocols, firewalls, and switches to ensure secure connectivity.
- Assist with hardware setup, installation, upgrades, and maintenance of computer hardware components.
- Monitor system performance and conduct analysis using tools like BMC Remedy, ServiceNow, or Jira to track incidents and manage workflows effectively.
- Perform software troubleshooting across applications including Microsoft Office suite and specialised enterprise tools.
- Maintain documentation of technical procedures and user guides to facilitate ongoing support activities.
- Collaborate with other IT team members on projects involving network security enhancements or system upgrades.
Requirements
- Proven experience in IT support or technical support roles with a strong understanding of computer networking principles.
- Proficiency in managing Windows operating systems (including Windows Server), macOS, Linux distributions, and associated services such as DNS and TCP/IP protocols.
- Hands-on experience with Active Directory management and Group Policy administration.
- Familiarity with enterprise management tools such as SCCM, ServiceNow, BMC Remedy, or Jira for incident tracking and asset management.
- Knowledge of network security measures including VPNs and firewalls; understanding of TCP ports and LAN configurations is essential.
- Strong troubleshooting skills related to hardware components, operating systems, software applications (Microsoft Office), and network connectivity issues.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical users.
- Organised approach with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Fundamentals or equivalent are desirable but not essential. Pay: £24,420.00-£39,776.91 per year
