Senior Mechanical Engineer, Torquay

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join a progressive building services company with a strong pipeline of projects based in South Devon. This role?s key focus is the design of the layout of building services in a wide variety of local authority, school, new home, and commercial buildings. This will include air conditioning, drainage, ducts, pipes, plumbing & heating. This is very a very specialised position and would suit a Mechanical Engineer who is confident with the use of AutoCAD & BIM (Building Information Modelling). Your CV must demonstrate knowledge & up to date practical experience in Building Services Engineering, on construction sites, and existing buildings. Essential Skills & Qualifications Required ? * ICT Skills including Microsoft Packages * Skilled in the use of AutoCAD, BIM (Building Information Modelling) * Ability to Manage, Monitor and Review Performance to Meet Targets * A Firm but Fair Approach with Contractors * Ability to Effectively Prioritise Workload * Customer Focused and Self Motivated * Ability to Deliver High Quality Work * Practical & Working Knowledge of Modern Practice in Building Services Engineering * Working Knowledge of Water Quality ? Building Water System * Health and Safety Knowledge with a CSCS Card * BTEC HNC in Mechanical Building Services Engineering or City & Guilds 4467 Higher Professional Diploma in Mechanical Building Services. * Membership of CIBSE is Desirable * Proven and Demonstrable Track Record of Supervising Contracts * Experience in Site Surveys, Report Preparation and Project Management Duties * Effectively manage the workload and project manage from inception through construction to completion, ensuring delivery to the agreed specification, on time and on budget. * Support the increase in turnover and help to secure new clients. * Managing a variety of projects ensuring that an efficient and cost-effective service is provided to meet the needs and priorities of clients. * Updating the Mechanical Project Manager regularly. * Line Management of staff and offering support to help develop their creative and problem-solving capabilities. * Preparation of reports and detailed briefs, carrying out surveys and studies to prepare estimates, contract documents and tenders using the appropriate components and techniques. This position will include advising external clients as well as councils on Water Supply Regulations. Failure to do so could have serious ramifications, such as reputational damage and could be considered a criminal offense, so you must be fully aware of Water Supply Regulations. You will be tasked with the design of mechanical systems, which leaves little room for error. Should something not work as planned, the knock-on effects in costings, potential site closures, remedial works and reputational damage could be very significant, so it is essential that the successful candidate is confident and accurate in this area. Excellent communication is key in this role as you will liaise with architects, project managers, contact managers, surveyor?s, and electrical engineers. You will be required to ensure that each client is satisfied with the level or service they are receiving, whilst juggling multiple projects. This role will require flexibility to travel around the Torbay / South West area. There may be occasional home working required and we would ask that you are able to offer some flexibility in line with the needs of the business. This is a Monday- Friday role.
