Grounds & Gardens Operative, Ashton

EQUANS are looking for a Grounds & Gardens Operative working on our Tameside General Hospital contract in Ashton-under-Lyne. This role is a permanent full-time position, 40 hours per week. A competitive salary and benefits package is on offer.

• Work within a team to provide an essential grounds and gardens maintenance service to the site.
• Ensure the site remains clear of litter and organic debris and remains neat and tidy at all times.
• Work with initiative to prioritise workloads and collaborate with the wider team to deliver a first-class service to the client.
• Maintain a litter-free site, removing accumulations of litter, cigarettes, debris, and leaves.
• Progress a schedule for external litter bin and cigarette disposal bin maintenance, including removal and disposal of waste bags and cleaning/disinfecting receptacles before replacement bags are inserted.
• Operate and use equipment such as electrically operated water-jetting units to remove graffiti and extraneous accumulations from walls, floors, and grounds maintenance equipment.
• Carry out planned maintenance of formal bedding areas, including digging, hoeing, manure/fertiliser application, planting, staking/tying back, pruning, and adherence to approved horticultural practices.
• Maintain hard landscaped areas including paved areas and walling elements.
• Assist the estates department’s general building team on an ad-hoc basis to support safe and efficient estate maintenance.
• Carry out a 10-day full-site grass cut to an exceptional standard.
• Use and sign off jobs on a PDA (personal digital assistant).
• Clear frost, ice, and snow from highways, car parks, footpaths, access ramps and stairways using rock salt and ice dispersants manually and with gritting equipment.
• Complete all relevant PPM and reactive paperwork and participate in the on-call rota as planned.

• Experience of PFI and/or healthcare environment is essential.
• Experience of working with members of the public and customer focus.
• Experience of grounds maintenance.
• PA1 & PA6 spraying licence.
• Full UK driving licence.
