The Strategy Team in Corporate Services are accepting expressions of interest for the Force Policy Officer role to cover maternity leave from 24th August 2026 to October 2027.
The role is a Police Staff SO2 and is open to staff who have the support of their SLT and an agreement to release to start the role on 24th August 2026 for a period of training with the current Policy Officer. The post is also open to staff or officers due to retire and able to return on 24th August.
This is a standalone post with responsibility for coordinating the development and management of all Force policies. This includes management of the Force Policy Database and ensuring that a comprehensive auditable record of all policy changes is maintained for corporate memory.
The successful candidate will work well without close supervision and be able to plan and prioritise their workloads. They will need to work with stakeholders Forcewide and ensure Policy reviews are completed in a timely manner.
A current awareness of developments in the policing landscape, including national guidance and legislation and the ability to identify items that will impact Force Policy is required. This role will particularly suit someone who has had involvement in the creation of Policy and has good IT skills.
