Bridgewater Surgeries are looking to recruit a reliable, professional and patient-focused GP Receptionist to join our busy and friendly team.

This role is for 30 hours per week, worked over 5 days, with a mixture of morning and afternoon shifts. Shifts are 6 hours long, with:

  • AM shifts starting at 7:00am
  • PM shifts starting at 1:00pm

The role will involve working across all 4 practice sites

This is a busy and fast-paced position with a significant amount of telephone work. The successful candidate will need to be confident managing a high volume of calls while also dealing with patient enquiries at reception and completing administrative duties.

The ideal candidate will:
  • Have excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Be calm, organised and able to multitask
  • Work well within a team environment
  • Understand the importance of confidentiality and professionalism
  • Previous GP or NHS experience is desirable but not essential

  • Answering a high volume of patient telephone calls

Bridgewater Surgeries is a large, busy GP practice with 4 sites located across Watford.

We are a friendly teaching practice providing care to over 36,500 patients, supported by a team of enthusiastic, multidisciplinary and support staff.

We are looking for a Medical Receptionist with initiative, drive, strong interpersonal skills and good administrative and IT skills to join our team and help us continue delivering high-quality patient care.

Job responsibilities

Job summary:

Receive, assist and direct patients inperson or via phone in accessing the appropriate service or healthcareprofessional in a courteous, efficient and effective way.

Ensure that enquiries from patients areefficiently handled

Provide general assistance to the practiceteam and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors,either in person or via the telephone

Job responsibilities:

Reception
  • Processappointment requests from patients by telephone and in person.
  • Provide generalassistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly imageto patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone
  • Handling repeatprescriptions
  • Deal withvisits requests ensuring they are entered on computer with the patientrecords
Administration
  • To have athorough knowledge of all practice procedures.
  • To work inaccordance of written protocols
  • Pulling/filingnotes as necessary
  • Photocopying as requested
  • Dealing with post
Other Tasks
  • Clear and stock roomsafter surgeries
  • Ensure buildingsecurity and have thorough knowledge of doors/windows/alarm.
  • Any other tasksallocated by managers
Person SpecificationQualifications
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Team player
  • GCSE grade C or above
  • Full training will be given to applicants with relevant transferable skills
Experience
  • Previous experience working in a GP Practice
  • Knowledge of SystmOne clinical system
