SEN Teaching Assistant and Midday Supervisory Assistant

Contract: Fixed-term

Hours: 30 hours per week Monday – Friday, 8.30 am – 3.00 pm, term time only (plus training days).

Location: Whitley, East Yorkshire

Key Responsibilities of a Primary SEN Teaching Assistant:

• Support pupils with special educational needs and disabilities to access learning and achieve their individual outcomes
• Provide 1:1 and small-group support under the direction of the class teacher and SENCO
• Support pupils during transitions, breaktimes, trips and specialist activities
• Maintain a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment
• Accurately record observations and feedback to support assessment and planning
• Uphold safeguarding, confidentiality and health & safety procedures at all times
• Work collaboratively with teachers, families and external professionals

The Ideal Candidate Will:

• Have experience working with a child with SEN
• Demonstrate a genuine passion for supporting children with profound, severe and complex needs
• Hold a SEND or TA qualification (desirable)
• Maintain high expectations for pupils' progress, confidence and individual outcomes
• Hold an exemplary commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
• Communicate effectively using both verbal and non-verbal communication methods
• Be able to support personal care needs which may include feeding, toileting and moving and handling with dignity and respect.
