What You Will Do

Lead and manage a team ofSocial Workers, Senior Practitioners, and support staffwithin the Duty&Assessment service.

Oversee thescreening, triage, and allocation of new referrals, ensuring children and families receive appropriate services promptly.

Ensure statutory assessments, includingSection 17 and Section 47 enquiries, are completed efficiently and to a high professional standard.

Providereflective supervision, guidance, and performance managementto support staff development and maintain high-quality practice.

Monitor safeguarding thresholds and make informed decisions regardingrisk management and intervention strategies.

Collaborate closely witheducation, health, police, and other partner agenciesto ensure effective multi-agency safeguarding.

Ensure compliance with statutory frameworks, includingWorking Together to Safeguard Childrenand local safeguarding procedures.

Manage complex safeguarding concerns with urgency, ensuring timely and appropriate responses.

Driveservice improvement initiatives, contributing to audits, inspections, and the continuous development of the service.

Requirements

Qualified Social Worker with a recognised Social Work qualification (BA/MA Social Work, DipSW, or equivalent).

CurrentSocial Work England registration.

Significant post-qualifying experience withinChildren's Social Care, particularly in safeguarding, duty, or assessment services.

Previousteam management or supervisory experiencewithin a local authority setting.

Strong knowledge ofUK safeguarding legislation and statutory frameworksrelating to children and families.

Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
