Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) Required

Contract: Full-time, 5 days per week

Exclusive Education is looking to appoint an experienced and motivated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to work across EYFS, Key Stage 1, and Key Stage 2 at a school in Wigan. This HLTA role is full-time ideally, although part‑time hours will be considered for the right candidate.

The ideal candidate for the HLTA position will have previous experience supporting pupils with a range of learning needs and be confident delivering lessons and interventions across the curriculum.

Key Responsibilities of the HLTA

• Support pupils across EYFS, KS1, and KS2 to access learning and achieve their full potential
• Deliver planned lessons and targeted interventions in the absence of the class teacher
• Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff to provide high‑quality learning support as a proactive HLTA
• Support pupils with Special Educational Needs and additional learning needs where required
• Assist in managing behaviour effectively and promote positive learning environments
• Provide small group and one‑to‑one support to pupils across a range of abilities
• Support the assessment and monitoring of pupil progress and attainment
• Help prepare classroom resources and maintain an engaging learning environment
• Promote pupils' social, emotional, and academic development throughout the school day
• Maintain accurate records and provide feedback to teaching staff on pupil progress

Requirements for the HLTA role

• Relevant HLTA qualification or equivalent Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable
• Eligibility to work in the UK
• Recent experience working with children within the last two years
• Previous experience working as a HLTA or Teaching Assistant across primary age groups
• Excellent understanding of the national curriculum and assessment frameworks
• Experience delivering interventions and covering lessons confidently
• Ability to provide two professional references from recent roles working with children
• Hold a current DBS registered with the update service or be willing to apply for a new one
• Strong behaviour management and communication skills
• A flexible, positive, and proactive approach to supporting learning
