An exciting opportunity has become available to work at Handforth library. If you are committed to providing excellent customer service and can contribute cheerfully and positively to an efficient quality library service, then Handforth library could be the place for you. We currently have a vacancy for a part time Librarian to work 11.25 hours (0.30 FTE) per week.
Work patten: Monday 2.15 - 6pm - Friday 9.45 - 1.30pm and Saturday 9.15 - 1pm
About you
We are seeking a motivated and community-focused individual with experience of working in a public library setting and a clear commitment to the valuable role libraries play within local communities. The successful candidate will possess strong communication and organisational skills, confidence in the use of digital technologies and library systems, and the flexibility to work across a range of locations if required, including evenings and weekends. An awareness of current developments within public library services, together with experience of planning and delivering activities for adults and children, will be advantageous. As a Librarian, you'll support the delivery of high-quality library services across our libraries and will lead on reader development.

- Ability or experience in supporting the development and delivery of library programmes and initiatives, particularly children's activities.
- A strong commitment to providing high-quality customer service to users of all ages.
- The ability to support access to books, digital resources, and wider Council services.
- Experience of promoting literacy and lifelong learning through events, outreach, and partnership working.
- The ability to manage and maintain library collections and resources effectively.
- The skills to support users in developing digital confidence and capability.
- The ability to deputise for the Library Manager and Senior Library Assistant as required.
- A degree or equivalent qualification and ideally holds a recognised qualification in librarianship and information management or equivalent experience.
