Role Overview

Prism Glass Ltd is seeking an experienced and proactive Company Accountant to oversee the day-to-day financial operations of the business. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with UK tax and payroll regulations, and supporting management with financial reporting and project cost tracking.

This role includes supervision of an Accounts Assistant and close collaboration with internal departments to ensure accurate financial control across projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Management

  • Maintain and manage the sales and purchase ledgers
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations
  • Prepare and process accruals and prepayments
  • Manage and review company expenses
  • Prepare monthly management accounts.

Payments & Cash Management

  • Prepare and process weekly supplier and subcontractor payment runs
  • Set up and manage other business payments
  • Assist with cash flow monitoring

Project Cost Control

  • Liaise with internal departments to ensure accurate allocation of project costs, including materials and labour
  • Support the management team with cost tracking and financial reporting

Tax & Compliance

  • Prepare and submit monthly VAT returns
  • Prepare and submit monthly CIS returns
  • Ensure compliance with relevant UK financial regulations

Payroll

  • Process monthly payroll, including pension calculations
  • Prepare and submit year-end payroll documentation, including:
  • P60
  • P45
  • P11D (employees’ expenses and benefits)
  • P11D(b)
  • Employer’s Annual Declaration

Credit Control

  • Manage the credit control process
  • Assess financial risk of new customers
  • Oversee debt collection and resolve account queries

Team Management

  • Day-to-day management and support of an Accounts Assistant

Additional Duties

  • Produce and maintain Excel-based financial analysis and reports
  • Provide financial support to senior management as required
  • Undertake ad hoc financial and administrative tasks as necessary.

Experience & Skills Required

  • Minimum 5 years’ UK accounting experience
  • AAT fully qualified (or equivalent)
  • Strong working knowledge of Sage 50 Accounts
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrated management and leadership skills.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: £36,000.00-£40,000.00 per year

  • Diploma of Higher Education (preferred)
