Education/Qualification
Essential criteria
- Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics
- Health Care Professions Council Registration
Desirable criteria
- Member of the British Dietetic Association
- Member of a relevant Specialist Group
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience in a range of clinical areas including nutrition support, food fortification, the appropriate prescribing of oral nutrition supplements, irritable bowel syndrome and coeliac disease
- Experience of managing patients requiring nutrition support with other nutrition related diseases such as diabetes, malnutrition, progressive neurological conditions
- Experience in delivering group education/teaching with patients and/or health care professionals
- Experience in the training of student dietitians
- Experience in conducting audits, QI and/or research
- Experience in using behaviour change techniques
- Experience in contributing to policy, procedures, guidelines and clinical standards development
- Understanding the importance of effective multidisciplinary working
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working in a community dietetic team
Skills&Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Ability to apply core Dietetic skills across a range of clinical conditions including the assessment and treatment of patients with nutrition related disease
- Advanced skills in the assessment and treatment of clients with nutrition related disease
- Ability to problem solve, prioritise, and demonstrate clinical reasoning
- Ability to communicate complex medical and Dietetic information in sensitive and easily understandable language
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with people from a variety of backgrounds e.g., via advocacy/interpreters
- Able to collect, analyse and report/present on clinical data for example audit, Quality Improvement and/or research
- Knowledge of, and commitment to equal opportunities
- Ability to work as a team member and promote collaborative multi- disciplinary and multi-agency working
- Good organisational skills including the ability to manage time effectively, meet deadlines and deal with work pressures and demands
- Ability to work autonomously and be professionally responsible
- Ability to research and interpret literature and apply to own practice to ensure clinical practice is up to date
- Basic IT skills - Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, MS Teams, Excel
- Have knowledge of national policies and guidelines in Nutrition Support, coeliac disease and IBS
