Salary£26,696 - £28,988 plus shift enhancements.
Duration & Shift Pattern36hrs per week – SHIFT WORK over 24 Hour / 7 Days per week service.
Location & DepartmentDepartment - REAS Administration. Royal Edinburgh Building / Royal Edinburgh Hospital.
ResponsibilitiesThe Reception Team covers a wide ranging and varied administrative workload required to support all the services and ensure safe and efficient running of work. The post holder will be required to work the following shifts on a rotational basis: 0700-1630HRS / 0830-1800HRS / 1400-2330HRS / 2300-0830HRS, Monday to Sunday in relation to service requirements. The role requires excellent customer service skills, a professional and positive approach to completing daily duties and operational needs, day-to-day administration within wards, dealing with incoming calls and enquiries for vulnerable patient groups, other health professionals and third-party sectors.
Skills & QualificationsDisplay a friendly manner with appropriate interaction. Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to empathise and develop positive working relationships with colleagues and patients. Show motivation, adaptability to change, a flexible approach and attitude to covering shifts, the ability to work independently or as part of a team, initiative, and experience of working under pressure and in stressful situations.
BackgroundREAS provides a range of Mental Health services to the population of Lothian and other Boards within Scotland. A number of these services are provided on the Royal Edinburgh Hospital (REH) site.
Regulatory Requirements- Post holder must have a PVG Scheme membership/record.
- If the post is assessed as a regulated role, appointment will be subject to joining the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme.
- Due to legislative changes from 1 April 2025, the post may require a different level of criminal records check than is currently the case.
